Después de los cuarenta años que los cuatro chicos nos lleva alegrando el oído, tienen varios trenes repletos de grabaciones en directo susceptibles de ser compiladas en disco.
Ahora Graham Nash ha dicho que está trabajando en una recopilación…
"I just mixed 43 tracks from CSNY in 1974, our stadium tour, as we like to call it. And I chose the performances, I put them together kind of how the show went. Normally it was an electric set at first, intermission, an acoustic set and then the electric set. So there will be three CDs of music and a DVD."
Pues 43 pistas seleccionadas nada más que del tour de 1974 va a ser una curiosa recopilación.
De momento está trabajando en las mezclas y se espera que esté terminado para fin de año, aunque de momento todavía no tiene título.
Un bootleg relacionado con la noticia.
Por lo que yo sé, de 1974 existe un boot titulado 4 On The Street In ’74, que recoge la actuación de CSNY del 14/Sept/1974 en el Empire Stadium de Wembley (Inglaterra).

Yo lo conozco porque fue compartido en Bootcity hace ya bastante tiempo (gracias bonzobonham) en 2 DVD con muy buena calidad (aunque NTSC), pero también ha circulado por otros trackers. Incluso tiene su portada, como puedes ver, por partida cuádruple.

No tenía noticias de esta aparición ¿Y tú? Sus seguidores estamos de enhorabuena, porque de ese mismo tour de Stills en 2008, yo solo he visto unas cuantas cosas rodando por la red (Brighton, Milán, Ámsterdam, Bruselas y Roma), aunque una de ellas, el del Parco Della Musica de Roma (2008-10-01), es muy interesante porque el amigo Filippo, que fue el taper, rodó un DVD de una buena calidad, aunque incompleto, lástima. Incluyó también una grabación de fuente diferente en el mismo DVD de unas siete canciones no consecutivas.

Stills comenzó el concierto con Helplessly Hoping, vestido de negro y con su gran White Falcon. Da una imagen intima y cercana, muy a lo que nos tiene acostumbrado durante todos estos años. Luego va cambiando de guitarra casi cada canción hasta llegar a la Martin Special Edition con su nombre en el mástil. Y aun hay algunas otras por ahí.
Cuando llega el turno de Love The One You’re With, la cosa cambia. Empieza la parte eléctrica del concierto. Tras él están Todd Coldwell (órgano y voz), Kenny Pasarelli (bajo y voz) y Joe Vitale (percusión). Y entonces aparece el Stills cañero que todos conocemos.

I received this DVD in a trade and it had Down by the River with Phish from the 1998 edition on it too. Considering the fact that greeney55 has been providing us with some great DVDs of previous Farm Aid concerts, including the 1998 edition, I left it off to save some bandwidth (and hard drive space). For some reason the songs are out of order and Farmer John is missing, probably because it was compiled from multiple broadcasts. I don’t know for sure though. Me llegan del país vecino, Francia, de parte del amigo Jacques-Eric Legarde.
Os dejo un enlace a la noticia que más o menos dice:
Premiere americana de Trunk Show ayer en Nueva York. Según nuestros informadores, un cierto morebarn, es una película para partidarios, con mucha música, pocas canciones. Demme rueda en planos largos y no cambia de ángulo cada tres segundos. A la película ha seguido un debate con la presencia de Jonathan Demme y Elliot Roberts. Aquí lo más interesante:
* Neil pidió a Demme que subtitulara solamente “Like A Hurricane” ya que en este tema canta muy lejos del micro.
* Hay 12 canciones que han sido rodadas pero no figuran en la película.
* La fecha de salida en EE.UU. es el 19 de marzo
* La salida del DVD está prevista el 19 de abril
* Elliot Roberts indicó que la película Human Highway estará incluida en los “Archives II”.
Y eso es todo, a esperar que algún programador nos ponga la película en algún cine que me pille cerca, el “Greendale” y el “Heart Of Gold” ya pasaron de largo y tuve que conformarme con la pantalla del televisor…

La primera viene de parte de Rey Álvaro, y se trata de un vídeo rodado por Jon Rueda en el concierto de Donosti de este verano. Solamente recoge Mansion On The Hill, pero con una gran calidad. Gracias a los dos.
Otros dos vienen vía LiveandLosslessMusic (gracias) y se trata de un par de conciertos de Neil Young en formato Flac para que todos los playeros los podamos disfrutar, si es que ya no lo hemos hecho y que yo me he encontrado navegando por esos mundos. Sin registro ni nada, ¡a pelo!.

La primera aparición en directo de Crosby y Nash. Fue un nueve de Noviembre de 1970 y es difícil expresar con palabras lo que son estas ocho canciones.
Aparte del hecho de que esto capta su primera colaboración pública como un dúo y por sí es un documento histórico digno de una edición oficial, la actuación misma es impresionante – desde “Simple Man” de Graham hasta "Traction In The Rain”del cierre de David.
Lo único reprochable es el sonido, que está lejos de ser de primera.
Crucemos nuestros dedos y esperemos que el productor Stephen Barncard coloque sus manos sobre el master y haga con él lo que hizo con Another Stoney Evening.

Aun no sé como calificar esta noticia que me ha llegado a través del la Rust.
Resulta que la división cinematográfica de Warner está anunciando a través de esta página que los poseedores de DVD de su marca pueden actualizarlos a Blu-ray por un precio que oscila entre 8 y 10 dólares aproximadamente.
Tú le envías los DVD sin sus cajitas y ellos en el plazo de un mes, más o menos, te envían los mismos título en el nuevo formato.
Los portes, para pedidos mayores de 25 dólares, son gratis, aunque eso puede ser solo para los USA, supongo.
De momento ya hay una paquete de títulos disponibles (ninguno de Neil Young) pero se irán incorporando más.

Recién aparecida en los USA una colección de DVD’s bajo el título The Dominoes Movie.
Se publicita como un álbum audiovisual de los años 60 en ese país, aunque no se trata de recoger esa década de forma cronológica, sino a través de una serie de hechos escogidos bajo la teoría de que unos han llevado a otros, como si de una fila de fichas de dominó se trataran.
Según dicen en su página web, estos documentales se empezaron a recoger hacia 1976, completándose la colección hacia 1989, aunque no ha podido ser distribuido hasta este año.
De todas formas, la cosa viene no solo por el interés evidente que pueden tener estos vídeos, sino porque la banda sonora es de vértigo. A cada tema se le ha asociado una música de calidad: The Rolling Stones, Santana, Neil Young, Grateful Dead , Janis Joplin, CSNY, BB King…

Ya falta menos. Te recuerdo que el 14 de Septiembre próximo tendrá lugar la presentación americana de la película en la inminente edición 2009 del TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), como ya te di noticias hace unos días.
También hubo un par de pre-estrenos con anterioridad, uno en el South by Southwest Festival (SXSW 2009) y otro en Festival de San Sebastián 2008, pero en ninguno de ellos se proyectó la cinta completa.
Algunos se están dando prisas, como esta web, que ya anuncia el DVD, y que ha sido difundida en la lista flamenca de Neil. Lo malo es que yo no sé flamenco, a pesar de serlo mucho.
